Stand Up Paddling at the Rainbows End

Stand up paddling is making its way around the world, and has now arrived in Palau! It’s a match made in heaven. Palau with its clear, flat waters, year-round warm temps, and amazing scenery is the perfect place for this sport that is gaining in popularity all over the world. Stand up paddling is fun, easy to learn, and a fantastic way to do some sight-seeing and be friendly to nature.

We spent 7 wonderful months paddling to our hearts' content in paradise. Even though we said our sad goodbyes to Palau in June 2009, stand up paddling is in Palau to stay. We've left our good friend, Fuanes Oiterong, a bunch of stand up paddle boards and, paddles and he has started Stand Up Paddle Tours. Look for Fuanes out on the water or his signs on the main road in Koror. Call him, email him and set up a time go get your feet wet with him. It's an amazing experience you will treasure for years. Fuanes is a native Palauan and knows and loves the waters of Palau like crazy.

There is a brand new way to enjoy the waters of Palau!  We were stoked to be among the first to do this great sport in Palau in 2009.  It is taking off around the globe and you don't want to miss out.  So what is it?  Stand Up Paddle Boarding!  We picked up and left the US in November of 2008, and headed for Palau for this very reason – to paddle the waters of this island paradise. We spent 7 months exploring and enjoying all the ideal paddling spots in this tropical wonderland.   We were out on the waters of Koror and cruising the Rock Islands almost every day on our stand up paddle boards. That meant wonderful days filled with paddling, snorkeling, lunch on a beautiful island or on our boards, playing around on and off our boards, lying back and just plain relaxing, or even turtle watching.  A great time, a lot of fun, and a what an adventure! Here's what we discovered after 7 months - Palau is the perfect paddling spot for stand up paddlers of all abilities. Nowhere else compares!! We are back home in California now, but stand up paddling has a home in Palau for sure. Our Palauan buddy, Fuanes Oiterong, has started Stand Up Paddle Tours and is thrilled and excited to share stand up paddling with those living in Palau or those visiting. Don't miss out on doing this great sport in the one place on this planet that is perfectly suited for it!
