1. taro. i have no idea how to prepare it. i always just got the stuff that was already cooked. i guess you can boil it? i dunno.

2. that's the weird bitter melon. do. not. eat.

3. not sure, but i THINK that might be a breadfruit. if so, i think you simply have to figure out how to get it out of that weird spiky shell. no cooking required. i've seen it on the ppr b fast buffet, it's decent.

4. kangkum, my absolute favorite. FAVORITE. it's kind of like spinach, and you can pretty much do anything with it you'd do with spinach (like salad, for instance). one of the best things to do with it is saute with some garlic and soy sauce (maybe a little bit of sesame oil). don't discard the stalks. they are my favorite part.

5. okra. stir fry. preferably with other veggies.

6. ????

7. some kind of fruit but i can't remember. i'd suggest just slicing one open and winging it. or, do as i always did. approach a palauan at the grocery with unidentified produce, look really helpless, and ask "what is this? how do you eat it?"

8. i think this is some kind of radish. maybe daikon? i never ate it. - erin
