Newport, OR – The Oregon Open Ocean Classic is a 7.5 mile Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) race along the Oregon coast, north to south, from Beverly Beach State Park to Nye Beach, Newport, happening Saturday, August 28th, 2010.  You've heard of flat-water races, down-winders and through the surf challenges. This race is a combination of them all, with beautiful views along the Oregon shore. It will be open to SUP and traditional paddleboard competitors.

The C4 Waterman SUP Surf-Off will be held on Friday August 27th from 1pm-5pm.

To secure a place in the Surf-Off, competitors must qualify through the C4 Waterman SurfSUP race on Thursday, August 26th.

In a format that seeks to recognize the complete SUP paddler, the field of 24 will be decided at the conclusion of the SurfSUP race on Thursday. The heat draw will be made up of the top 16 placed men, the top 6 placed women and the top 2 juniors. These competitors will compete in a high-performance SUP surfing contest at Queens, Waikiki. *

History in the making as September will see 16 SUP riders leaving the coast and flying 100's of miles inland to compete at Africa's prestigious holiday destination - Sun City, Valley of Waves. Sun International is known across the world for the Million Dollar Golf challenge that takes place each year, but next month will have crowds gathering to watch riders competing against a man-made wave.
