Stand up paddling is a great sport, and you'll have the best time ever once you learn how to do it.

While we lived in Palau, we were happy to teach anyone and everyone interested how to stand up paddle. We're gone, but our boards aren't and neither is stand up paddling. We've given all the equipment to our friend, Fuanes, and through his business, Stand Up Paddle Tours, you can get a great lesson and have a great time out on the waters of Palau.

Learn all the basics of stand up paddle boarding with Fuanes. As a guide and instructor, he'll introduce you to the sport and have you up paddling in no time. By the end of the lesson, you’ll be paddling with confidence and safety and you’ll be having a great time doing it.

All of his instruction will happen in calm, flat waters. Every stand up paddle tour or event includes instruction. Dedicated instructional sessions are available too (apart from tours or events). The boards, paddles, and leashes are provided along with great instruction in an easy-going, fun style.

Here’s what you can expect to learn.

  • Board and Paddle Orientation
  • Entering and exiting the water
  • Stance
  • Paddle Technique
  • Steering and Turning
  • Self Rescue

What to bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Hat
  • Swim Suit
  • PFD if you are not a strong, capable swimmer
  • Water shoes if area to be paddled has coral, rocks, or rough surfaces

Tours vary from 2-4 hours in length, depending on the destination.

Lessons-only sessions last 1.5 hours.
